VATRE stands for Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election.

Under Texas law, a school district must receive voter approval before adopting an M&O tax rate above a certain level.

Coupland ISD’s proposed VATRE would increase the district’s M&O tax rate by three cents.

School district taxes are divided into two primary parts.

Maintenance and Operations, or M&O, pays for the district’s day-to-day expenses, including employee salaries and benefits, utilities, transportation, instructional services and other operating costs.

Interest and Sinking, or I&S, is used to repay voter-approved bond debt.

The proposed VATRE would affect the district’s M&O funding.

Coupland ISD’s secondary campus opened this year with grades 7 through 9.

The district plans to add one grade level each year until the campus reaches full capacity. With each new grade level come additional staffing, programs, services and operating expenses.

Congratulations to the Junior High boys and girls. Both teams had strong showings. Junior High boys placed 2nd overall with top finishes from Andres, Juan and Adrian! The trophy case just got its first plaque 🤠! Go Cowboys and Cowgirls!!!

Cross Country showed up and showed out at the Granger Lake meet on Saturday. Congrats to Varsity 6th place finish from Jesus and 2nd place JV finish from Nathan!

Ms. Mogonye and Mrs. Beaver’s Kindergarten classes had a blast playing with the parachute during PE! It was a great time filled with laughter, teamwork, and lots of smiles!

The Junior High and Freshman Football teams showed much improvement from last week to this week. Great standout plays happened on both sides of the ball Thursday night. ⭐️ Staff Member of the Month: Neil White! ⭐️ We are so thankful to celebrate Neil White as our Staff Member of the Month! Mr. White is our maintenance man, substitute bus driver, and truly a man of many talents. Mr. White worked incredibly hard this summer to make sure all of our CES teachers were moved in to their new classrooms, and he also helped prepare everything for the high school to make their move-in as smooth as possible.
